What to Expect

Your first visit - and afterwards

The initial consultation is all about finding out what is the cause of your problem and why it isn't healing on its own. There can be many reasons, for example, how the injury occurred, health, age, lifestyle, sex, posture, body shape and many other things.

Whatever’s causing your problem, our thorough consultation will uncover it. We’ll take a full case history and carry out a non-invasive physical examination. The examination also includes neurological and orthopedic tests, movement and strength testing and a spine and posture examination.

We also use a Surface Electro-Myography Scan which tests your muscles’ natural voltage and underlying nerve electricity to identify areas of increased tension in the spine and nervous system. The scan doesn't give a diagnosis but can be used in conjunction with the other tests to help find the cause of your problem.

If you've had treatment before

If you’ve seen an Osteopath, Chiropractor, or, Physiotherapist in the past, it may be possible to receive treatment on your first consultation. Please let us know when you call to book your appointment and this can be arranged.

After your consultation

We’ll invite you to come back for a second appointment to discuss the results of the consultation and your treatment options. If you’re in a lot of pain or need emergency treatment, please let us know and we can arrange to treat you on the day of the consultation.

What if we can’t help?

If by any chance we feel we can’t treat your condition, we’ll discuss alternatives and refer you to the appropriate specialist.
